What is a Circular Economy?
A circular economy ensures resources are used in a way that protects and restores the natural environment by avoiding those that harm the environment at any point in their lifecycle.
It also means using less, and when we do need something, to keep it in use for as long as possible.
Our network in this area works together to promote and educate about Circular Economy practices and activities within our community.
Our goal is for our community to use circular economy practices so that our planet can thrive and continue to provide us with resources for generations to come.
This means we need to consume more carefully by:
- Repairing
- Borrowing
- Reusing
- Source organic items & materials
- Source second-hand
- Recycle - make your own items
- Only get what you need and give back/ refuse packaging when you can
- Help others to consume resources more carefully
- Lend your things to others
- Donate to others for reuse, or if this isn’t an option - for recycling
- Volunteer for one of our member groups
- Support our member groups by promoting and using their services/products
- Start your own initiative
- Join our Circular Economy network
- Donate to ENM
Here at ENM we've produced a leaflet about careful consumption which can be viewed here. If you're a business, you can arrange an audit of your business with Precycle. And whoever you are, you can upskill with SuperGrans' sewing and food preserving workshops.
We also accept lids and laptops for recycling here at our Cuba Street offices.

- Attend An Event including one of our Repair Cafes! These are free pop-up events where local people bring in their broken and damaged belongings and local volunteer experts do their best to repair them. More Information on our repair cafe events can be seen here.
- The manner in which we currently consume resources is having a devastating effect on our planet: flora, fauna, land, waterways, oceans and air.
- To see first-hand the impact of plastic and other litter on our environment, we encourage you to Host a Waterway Clean-up Event. This is a great motivator for all involved to consume more carefully in the future.
