Their vision is to be a 'great trail' within Manawatu's interconnecting off-trail network. They are repurposing the old Foxton Railway line into a Rail trail. This will run between Longburn and Himatangi Beach and down to Foxton village.

Volunteers Wanted
The City to Sea Rail Trail is looking for volunteers to help progress this exciting community project. If you have skills in any of the following areas, they'd love to hear from you.
Social Media
Create 1–2 Facebook and Instagram posts each week using Canva (or similar). Help keep the community informed, grow engagement, and share the story of the rail trail.
Funding Applications
Support the team by preparing 8–10 funding applications each year. You'll work alongside the Treasurer and Chairperson, with all the key background information and supporting material provided.
Communications & Networking
Do you enjoy building relationships? This role involves connecting with stakeholders, councillors, businesses, and community groups, and representing the project at meetings and events across the region.
Trail Construction Advisor
Share your construction knowledge to help guide planning and decision-making for the trail. You won't be responsible for final decisions or liability, but your expertise will help the team make informed choices throughout the project.
Working bee helpr
They meet at the Rangiotu Hall on the second Wednesday bi monthly [Jan, March, May, July, Sept. and Nov] and have regular working bees on SH 56 or at Longburn. This includes removing debris, branches, trees, weeds, and mowing. Then using old metal to fill holes / level the trail for track development.
