Green Corridors' aim is to build corridors of native vegetation which provides habitat for wildlife along streams, improves water quality and creates open green spaces from the Tararua Ranges to the Manawatu River, with an initial focus on Turitea then Kahuterawa Stream valleys and tributaries.
- Our projects are of a long term nature, with successional planting and ongoing maintenance.
- We work with community cooperation and support.
- We see the increasing importance of having areas of natural biodiversity close to urban areas, both for conservation and amenity reasons.
Since 2001, Green Corridors has planted over 100,000 eco-sourced native plants in 15ha of gullies in the Summerhill area and 10ha of riparian margin along the Turitea Stream. If you would like to help out with planting days or to make a donation then please contact us.
